Sh 21 Million Murder Plot: Muathe and Accomplice charged of Planning Hit on Business Rival

Rosemary Mutheu Muathe, a well-known Nairobi businesswoman, has been charged before a Nairobi court on Tuesday over a conspiracy to murder her business rival, Anthony Maina.

The case, brought before Milimani Principal Magistrate Godfrey Onsarigo, involves Muathe and her alleged accomplice, Wilfred Wandia Kisau, who are accused of plotting to kill Maina over a property dispute.

Muathe and Kisau reportedly planned to pay Marvin Omondi Abisalom, a former police officer, Sh 21 million to carry out the assassination.

According to the prosecution, the plan included an initial Sh 1 million downpayment with an additional Sh 20 million as a reward for the hitman.

The dispute centers on a property called Magic Mall, which Muathe had leased to Maina.

The lease’s transfer to Maina following a court ruling reportedly led Muathe to consider drastic actions.

The plot was exposed when Abisalom confided in Maina about the conspiracy, leading to an immediate investigation by DCI detectives.

Further investigation revealed that Muathe, Kisau, and Abisalom had multiple meetings to plan the murder, but Abisalom’s decision to come forward prevented the execution of the plan.

Despite Kisau’s attempts to hide evidence by deleting her WhatsApp account, forensic analysis provided crucial information about the conspiracy.

Muathe, who denies the charges, has been granted bail under conditions of Sh 500,000 in cash or a Sh 2 million bond.

The case is scheduled for further mention on October 7, 2024.

The evidence, including communication records, indicates a deliberate scheme to eliminate Maina.
