COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has called for an immediate ceasefire between a faction of Luhya leaders and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya during a media briefing in Bofa, Kilifi County.
Atwoli, a prominent political figure, urged both sides to halt the ongoing squabble and engage in constructive dialogue to maintain unity within the Luhya community.
The call comes amid rising tensions between Natembeya and several Luhya leaders over political differences and governance issues.
Atwoli, known for his influence in Kenyan politics, emphasized the importance of peace, collaboration, and the shared goals of the Luhya community, urging the leaders to put aside their differences for the greater good.
“Let us not allow politics to divide us. Our unity is key to our progress as a community and as a country,” Atwoli stated.
He further stressed the need for leaders to be responsible and work together to solve the challenges facing the region, particularly in areas of development and economic growth.
The situation has attracted significant attention, with many now hoping that Atwoli’s intervention will bring about reconciliation and end the bitter feud among local leaders.
