The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bidsworth Auto-Rent Company, Keeru Ngugi Mucheru was in Wednesday charged on a Nairobi Court with multiple charges related to obtaining Sh 30 million through fraudulent means.
Mucheru was accused of defrauding Ng’enda Location Ranching Company of the significant amount in February 2023.
The prosecution alleged that Mucheru misrepresented himself, convincing the company that he would invest the money into his business and offer them a 15% monthly return on their investment.
In addition, Mucheru is facing charges for obtaining Sh 1 million from Winnie Adoyo Ong’ondo, again under the pretense of investing her money with promises of a 15% monthly interest.
He is also charged with fraudulently acquiring Sh 2.95 million from other individuals using similar tactics.
The court further heard that between March and April 2023, Mucheru tricked two additional victims into handing over Sh 1.9 million, falsely assuring them that their funds would generate a 15% monthly return from his business investments.
Mucheru denied all the charges before Magistrate Robinson Ondieki.
The court however ordered he be remanded in police custody pending bail ruling.
