Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has expressed his support for the recent meeting between President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta, highlighting the significance of their harmonious relationship for national unity and stability.
In a statement shared on his official X account on Monday, December 9, 2024, Kindiki emphasized that the collaboration between the two leaders would enable the country to focus on addressing key national development priorities.
“Rapprochement between President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta works well for national unity, stability, and enables the country to collectively focus on addressing national development priorities,” Kindiki said.
The meeting, which took place at Uhuru’s rural home in Gatundu, Kiambu County, was also praised by other leaders, including Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli.
Atwoli lauded the two leaders for their commitment to discussing issues of national interest, stressing that the meeting would positively impact Kenya’s economy, job creation, and stability.
“On behalf of Kenyan workers, I thank President Ruto and former President Kenyatta for meeting and discussing issues of national interest.
This will help Kenya grow its economy, create more jobs, and guarantee stability, attracting both direct and indirect investments,” Atwoli stated.
During the meeting, which took place on December 9, 2024, President Ruto reiterated his appreciation for Uhuru’s leadership in overseeing the peaceful transfer of power after the 2022 elections.
Ruto also commended the former President’s continued support for Kenya’s progress and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which has benefited from the strong foundation laid during Kenyatta’s tenure.
The meeting between Ruto and Uhuru is seen as a positive step towards fostering political stability and reinforcing the government’s commitment to national development.
