“We Will Not Be Diverted from Delivery,” DP Kindiki Declares, as Political Winds Shift Toward 2027

As country’s political landscape begins to tremble under the early rumblings of the 2027 general election, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has issued a stern warning: “We will not be diverted. Not now, not tomorrow.”

Speaking during an empowerment event in Kiambu County on Sunday, the Deputy President declared that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains laser-focused on development and service delivery, brushing aside rising political scheming and pre-election maneuvering.

“We will not waste our time in premature campaigns,” Kindiki told a crowd of energized supporters.

“Let others politic if they must, but as for us, we are here to deliver. Development is not a slogan it’s our responsibility.”

The event, which was intended to promote grassroots economic growth, saw President William Ruto donate KSh 3 million to small scale traders, while Kindiki added KSh 2 million towards community initiatives.

Kindiki’s comments come amid a shifting political terrain, with fresh alliances beginning to form in the shadows of the upcoming polls.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, previously a staunch Ruto ally, has reportedly opened backchannel talks with opposition stalwarts including former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The emerging alliance, insiders say, could morph into a formidable coalition challenging Ruto’s re-election bid.

“Those who think they can destabilize us with political noise will soon realize they’re chasing shadows,” he said. “We are not in office to clap back. We are in office to work.”

Despite mounting criticism over unmet promises and economic hardships, Kindiki reaffirmed that the government’s top priority remains transformative progress.

“Ridicule us if you want. Say we don’t know how to politic. But when the dust settles, it is the people who will decide—based not on empty words, but on real results,” he asserted.

The event drew a strong show of support from pro-government MPs, led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah.

Others included Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe, Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a, Lari MP Mburu Kahangara, Kiambaa’s Njuguna Kawanjiku, and Kiambu County Woman Representative Anne Wamuratha.

Eric Wamumbi (Mathira), Simon King’ara (Ruiru), and Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura were also in attendance.

Together, they echoed the Deputy President’s call for stability, with Ichung’wah noting, “Our loyalty lies with a government that is building roads, empowering youth, and fighting poverty—not one that thrives on division.”

As the battle lines of 2027 begin to take shape, the message from the DP was clear: Kenya Kwanza is on a mission, and no amount of political smoke and mirrors will blur their vision.

“We are not here for theatrics. We are here for legacy,” Kindiki concluded, drawing applause. “And we will not be distracted.”
