Former Citizen TV Presenter Kimani Mbugua Spotted Collecting Trash in Thika Weeks After Rehab

Once a well-known face on Citizen TV, Kimani Mbugua has been spotted collecting trash in Thika—an unusual turn for the former presenter.

Weeks after leaving rehab, Mbugua’s situation has seemingly worsened, raising concerns about his ongoing recovery and the harsh reality he’s facing as he navigates life after rehab.

Mbugua, known for his engaging reporting style, has faced personal challenges in recent years, including a public battle with bipolar disorder.

In September 2023, a fundraising initiative led by TikTok influencer Nyako successfully raised over KSh 500,000 to support Mbugua’s recovery and reintegration into the media industry.

Mbugua expressed his gratitude, stating, “I want to come back to you and say thank you for all the support and all the love, especially here on TikTok.”

Embracing his roots, Mbugua returned to his hometown of Makongeni in Thika, where he began producing content that showcased local life and community stories.

However, during a live TikTok session in March 2024, he was mugged by an individual wielding a machete, resulting in injuries and the loss of his Samsung A34 phone, which he used for content creation.

He reported the incident to the Kiandutu Police Station, seeking assistance in recovering his stolen device.
