Simon Kabu, the CEO and director of Bonfire Adventures, has been summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following an alleged case of threatening to kill.
Kabu, who is also known for his prominence in the travel and tourism industry, was called in for questioning in relation to an investigation into the incident, which reportedly took place under Section 223 of the Penal Code.
In a letter dated December 6, 2024, and served at 5:00 PM, Chief Inspector Eunice Njue of the DCI Nairobi County Headquarters directed Kabu to appear at the DCI Headquarters on December 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
The summons states that Kabu is believed to have information that could assist in the investigation into the serious matter.
The summons cited powers granted under Section 52(1) of the National Police Service Act of 2011, which allows police officers to compel attendance for questioning when there are reasonable grounds to believe that an individual may have information critical to the investigation.
“Under the powers conferred to me under this section, I request you, Simon Kabu, to report to me at the DCI Nairobi County Headquarters on December 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM and furnish me with full information concerning the case,” the summons read.
The DCI has warned Kabu that failure to comply with the summons could result in prosecution, as per the law.
Sources close to the matter indicate that the alleged threats, which Kabu is connected to, could carry serious legal consequences if proven to be true.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to examine all relevant evidence to determine whether the threats were made and the context in which they occurred.
The Bonfire Adventures CEO has yet to comment on the summons or the ongoing investigation.
As the situation unfolds, many are watching closely for further developments regarding Kabu’s involvement and the broader implications for the travel company he leads.
The DCI continues to urge any individuals with further information regarding the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
