A Nairobi-based physiotherapist, Duncan Chengo, founder of Ability Therapy Place, is facing serious charges after allegedly threatening to kill a man during a heated confrontation at Kenyatta Market in Kibera on March 18, 2023.
Chengo, who appeared before Senior Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe, denied issuing the death threat to John Maina Wangeci.
The prosecution claims Chengo threatened Wangeci with the chilling words, “Do you know I can shoot?”
However, the motive for the altercation remains unclear as details are yet to be revealed in court.
Following the hearing, Chengo was granted bail, with the court setting two options for his release: a bond of Ksh 100,000 with a surety of the same value or a cash bail of Ksh 50,000, along with a contact person.
The case will resume in a fortnight, with four witnesses set to testify.
If convicted, Chengo faces a potential ten-year jail sentence under Section 223(1) of the Penal Code for issuing threats to kill.
