British Soldier Accused of Killing Kenyan Woman Arrested in UK

A British soldier accused of killing a Kenyan woman has been arrested in the United Kingdom, a court was told.

The prosecution informed Justice Alexander Muteti that the soldier (name withheld) is in custody in the UK.

“We have received information that the suspect is being held by UK authorities. The UK courts will be handling case management on December 9, and we request a mention date after that,” the prosecution said.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) told the judge that case management proceedings will take place on December 9, 2025, to commence extradition proceedings.

The lawyer holding a watching brief for the deceased’s family, Mbiyu Kamau, told the court that justice has finally been seen to be done.

He said the family is grateful to the Kenyan government in collaboration with the UK in ensuring the suspect is arrested and brought to Kenya for prosecution.

“We appreciate the work being done by both the Kenyan and UK governments in this matter,” the family said, while being cautioned that extradition is often a lengthy and procedural process requiring patience.

Kamau noted that it has taken 13 years to have the suspect apprehended.

He submitted that the suspect killed Agnes Wanjiru in Nanyuki and dumped her body in a septic tank.

The judge directed that the matter be mentioned on December 16, 2025, to confirm the progress of case management in the extradition proceedings.
