Governor Gladys Wanga Fires Chief of Staff Charles Odhiambo After Alleged Affair Rumors and Misconduct

In dramatic move, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has officially dismissed her Chief of Staff, Mr. Charles Odhiambo, just days after explosive rumors surfaced alleging a personal affair between the two.

The termination letter, dated March 28, 2025 seen by IB reporter, cites Mr. Odhiambo’s actions as gross misconduct, unethical behavior, and insubordination, stating that his conduct has brought disrepute to both his office and the County Government of Homa Bay.

Governor Wanga emphasized that his continued service was no longer tenable, leading to the immediate termination of his employment contract.

“I take great exception, that your recent conduct, through your acts of commission and/or omission, amounting to gross misconduct, unethical conduct and/or insubordination, has brought disrepute and dishonour not only to your office, but most regrettably to the County Government of Homa Bay and notably the Office of the Governor in which you serve as Chief of Staff.”

“In the circumstances, your continued service as my Chief of Staff is no longer tenable and your contract of employment is hereby terminated with effect from the date of this letter.” Governor Wanga states in the letter

This decision comes on the heels of sensational claims that Governor Wanga’s husband discovered Mr. Odhiambo in a compromising situation with the governor, allegedly leading to a violent confrontation.

Unverified reports suggest that Governor Wanga’s husband orchestrated an attack on Mr. Odhiambo through goons, resulting in serious injuries.

However, both Governor Wanga and Mr. Odhiambo have vehemently denied these allegations, dismissing them as baseless political propaganda.

Last week, Governor Wanga who is currently in New York attending the UN Commission on the Status of Women, addressed the rumors, stating, “Chilly morning here in New York as we wind up our week-long meetings at CSW. Stop the propaganda. Fortunately, I’m battle-hardened, focused, and undeterred.”

Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo also condemned the spread of unfounded rumors targeting women leaders, warning that sharing such allegations contributes to character assassination.
