Jamie Vardy, the face of Leicester City’s modern football fairytale, brought the curtain down on a legendary 13-year career in unforgettable fashion, scoring his 200th goal for the Foxes in his 500th and final appearance.
In front of a sold-out King Power Stadium crowd, Vardy struck in the 28th minute against Ipswich Town, latching onto a pinpoint assist from James Justin.
The goal, his final in Leicester blue, sparked an outpouring of emotion from fans and teammates alike as the scoreboard lit up with a simple but powerful tribute: “200 GOALS – THANK YOU VARDS.”
Leicester went on to win the match 2-0, with Kasey McAteer adding a second, but the day belonged entirely to Vardy.
Substituted in the 80th minute, he received a standing ovation and a guard of honour from his teammates, a farewell fit for a club legend.
Vardy, now 38, leaves as Leicester’s all-time top scorer.
Over his remarkable 13-year spell with the club, having joined from non-league Fleetwood Town in 2012,Vardy wrote one of English football’s most inspiring stories.
He helped lead the Foxes to their iconic 2015–16 Premier League title, FA Cup triumphs, and European campaigns, while remaining fiercely loyal through every high and low.
“This club changed my life,” Vardy told fans after the match. “It’s been a hell of a ride, and I’m proud of every second.”
Though Leicester’s season ends with a return to the Championship, Vardy’s legacy is untouchable.
His final appearance was a moment of pure football magic, one last goal, one last roar from the crowd, and a legend forever etched in Leicester history.
