Caetano Kenya Unveils JMC Vigus Pickup Brand in The Country

Caetano Kenya, in collaboration with Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), officially launched the JMC brand in Kenya on  Thursday March 27, 2025, at a grand event held at Nairobi’s Carnivore Restaurant.

The launch introduced the Vigus line of vehicles, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion within the Kenyan automotive market.

This move is expected to meet the growing demand for reliable, durable vehicles designed specifically for local professionals and businesses.

In a strategic push to strengthen its market position, Caetano Kenya has committed to locally assembling the JMC Vigus pickups.

This decision highlights the company’s dedication to the Kenyan market by offering vehicles that are tailored to local conditions, including infrastructure and driving environments.

Assembling the vehicles locally also aligns with Kenya’s industrialization goals and will help mitigate the impact of high import taxes, benefiting both the company and the local economy.

The JMC Vigus pickup offers an impressive combination of durability, comfort, and advanced technology, making it an ideal choice for Kenyan professionals.

The vehicle boasts a robust design featuring a strong grille, halogen headlights, and a steel plate body, providing both an appealing exterior and functional durability.

The rear cargo box, fitted with guardrails, adds to its practical design for transporting goods.

Inside, the Vigus is designed to prioritize comfort and convenience.

It features comfortable fabric seats, manually adjustable seating, and a multifunctional steering wheel for an enhanced driving experience.

The vehicle’s air conditioning system cools quickly, ensuring comfort even in the hot Kenyan climate.

In terms of safety, the Vigus is equipped with advanced features such as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Braking System (EBS), and the Bosch Version 9.3 Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

Additionally, it includes a reversing radar, making it easier and safer for drivers to navigate tight spaces.

Under the hood, the JMC Vigus is powered by a 2.5-liter turbo diesel engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, offering 130 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque.

This combination ensures powerful performance, while the vehicle’s ground clearance of 200 mm and wading depth of 450 mm make it highly suitable for various terrains, from city roads to more rugged, off-road conditions.

Caetano Kenya has been a prominent name in the Kenyan automotive industry since its establishment in 2014.

As a subsidiary of the Portuguese Salvador Caetano Group, the company represents several well-known global automotive brands, including Hyundai, Renault, Kia, and Ford.

Over the years, Caetano has expanded its offerings to include locally assembled vehicles, positioning itself as a key player in the sector.

The introduction of the JMC Vigus is a testament to Caetano’s ongoing efforts to provide high-quality vehicles that meet the specific needs of the Kenyan market.

With the local assembly of the JMC Vigus, Caetano Kenya is not only strengthening its presence in the Kenyan automotive market but is also contributing to the country’s industrialization.

This initiative is expected to create more job opportunities, support the local economy, and provide Kenyan consumers with reliable, affordable vehicles.

As the company continues to align global automotive standards with local needs, it remains committed to delivering vehicles that are both high-performing and well-suited for Kenyan professionals.
