Two Charged with Defrauding Mediquip Global of KSh 14.8 Million in Cooking Oil Scam

Juliet Wakiuru Nduta, alias Waiguru, and Josphante Mogwambo Nyamwange were charged on Mondy with defrauding Mediquip Global Limited of KSh 14.8 million in a cooking oil deal

The duo are accused of falsely claiming they could facilitate the supply of cooking oil to the Regional Development of Arid and Semi-Arid Lands.

Appearing  before Milimani Magistrate Ondieki  Nduta and Mogwambo and several criminal denied the several criminal charges levelled against them by the Office of the DPP.

The prosecution accuses them of conspiring between July 13 and November 20, 2023, to obtain the money through fraudulent pretenses.

According to the charge sheet, Nduta, posing as an employee of the State Department for Regional Development of Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, allegedly obtained a consignment of Rina cooking oil valued at KSh 13.15 million from Mediquip Global, knowing the claim to be false.

Nyamwange faces a third charge of forging a document  a Local Purchase Order purportedly from the State Department  which was used in the scam.

In court, the accused requested reasonable bail, arguing they were not flight risks and would cooperate with the court.

However, the prosecution opposed their release, warning they might interfere with witnesses.

The court will rule Tuesday, April 8, 2025, on whether the accused will be granted bail.
