Trafficker Nabbed, Bhang Worth Over Sh13 Million Seized in High-Stakes Police Operation

In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, officers from Oruba Police Station have arrested a suspected narcotics trafficker and seized bhang with an estimated street value of Sh13.7 million.

Acting on an intelligence tip-off, the officers staged a successful ambush along the Giribe-Masara Road, intercepting a black Toyota Kluger, registration number KBS 517N, which was being driven by the suspect, identified as Edwin Okondo Nyagaga, 32.

Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be loaded with eight large sacks of bhang weighing approximately 457.6 kilograms.

The illicit cargo is believed to have been in transit to an unknown destination, possibly for distribution across multiple counties.

In a further twist to the bust, police also discovered four additional number plates hidden in the vehicle: KBP 716H, KBT 673F, KBW 341T, and KBX 142P—an indication that the suspect may have been using the plates to disguise the vehicle’s identity and evade detection.

“This is a significant seizure. The volume and value of the narcotics recovered suggest a well-organized trafficking operation,” said a senior officer at Oruba Police Station.

“We believe this arrest will help us unravel a broader network of drug syndicates operating in the region.”

The suspect, Okondo, was immediately taken into custody along with the vehicle and the contraband.

He is currently being held at Oruba Police Station, undergoing further processing ahead of his arraignment in court.

Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation to trace the origin of the drugs and establish possible links to other criminal enterprises.

Members of the public have been commended for their vigilance, with police urging continued cooperation to help root out illegal drug activities from the community.
