In a groundbreaking move aimed at inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals, Kenya Airways has donated a Boeing 737-700 aircraft to Mang’u High School.
The aircraft, which arrived at the school campus this morning, will serve as a vital resource for students pursuing careers in aviation, providing them with hands-on experience and practical lessons.
After years of planning and months of preparation, the aircraft’s relocation to the school marks a significant milestone in the airline’s ongoing commitment to developing local talent and fostering interest in the aviation sector.
Enock Monari, a parent at Mang’u High School, expressed his pride in the donation, stating, “Proud to be a parent in this great school.
This Boeing 737-700 donated to Mang’u High School by Kenya Airways will go a long way in inspiring students to pursue careers in aviation, especially those in the Aviation stream.”
As the aircraft makes its way to the school on Sunday January 12,2025, motorists using the Southern Bypass or Thika Road are advised to exercise caution, as the transportation process may cause temporary disruptions along these routes.
The delivery is expected to be a memorable moment for the students, many of whom have already expressed excitement at the opportunity to work with such a renowned piece of aviation history.
This generous donation follows in the footsteps of other notable contributions to educational institutions.
It brings to mind the time when General Electric gifted a jet engine to The Technical University of Kenya, an event that left an indelible mark on those who witnessed it.
“The day the jet engine was delivered will always be one of my most beautiful memories,” recalls a former student, adding, “It fueled my passion for jet propulsion, reminding me that the challenges of three-page calculations were worth it for the chance to work on something so incredible.”
The donation of the Boeing 737-700 is expected to have a similar impact at Mang’u High School, providing students with invaluable exposure to the practical side of aviation and nurturing their ambitions to become engineers, pilots, and other professionals in the industry.
Kenya Airways has long been a key player in shaping the future of aviation in Kenya, and this latest initiative is a testament to the airline’s dedication to education and the growth of the aviation sector.
As Mang’u High School students look forward to learning on their new “classroom in the sky,” they may one day be the pilots, engineers, and aviation leaders shaping the future of air travel in Kenya and beyond.
