The Jubilee Party has called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to investigate and take action against leaders allegedly involved in the controversial Adani deals in Kenya.
During a press briefing at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi on Friday, Jubilee Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni demanded that the names of the leaders implicated in the deals be made public and urged that they be arrested if found guilty.
He also called for those involved to step aside from their public service positions to allow for a fair investigation.
Kioni raised concerns over President William Ruto’s failure to address the Adani contract, specifically the Health Scheme Agreement (SHA), during his recent State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday November 21,2024.
The deal has sparked controversy due to its terms and the lack of transparency surrounding its execution.
Kioni questioned why the president did not address the issue, especially considering its impact on the health sector and the public trust.
The Jubilee Secretary-General also criticized members of Parliament, accusing them of failing to take action to halt the Adani-related processes within the legislature.
According to Kioni, lawmakers had a responsibility to challenge the deal, but their inaction allowed the controversial contract to proceed without proper scrutiny.
His statements reflect growing concerns within the party about the integrity of the Adani deals and their potential impact on Kenya’s governance and public resources.
