Former Kisumu Town West MP Kenn Nyagudi Dies at Kenyatta National Hospital

Former Kisumu Town West Member of Parliament, Rev. Kenn Nyagudi, has passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The news of his death was confirmed by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Sunday, March 24, 2025, via his official X account.

Nyagudi died while undergoing treatment at the hospital’s private wing.

Speaker Wetangula expressed his condolences, sharing his personal connection with the late MP.

“I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. I was privileged to have interacted with him when I was the Foreign Affairs Minister,” Wetangula wrote, extending his support to Nyagudi’s family during this difficult time.

Nyagudi was first elected in 2004 following a by-election triggered by the death of Joab Omino.

He served for one term, losing his seat to Olago Aluoch in the 2007 general election.

He later attempted to return to Parliament, running for the Kisumu Central seat in 2012, but was defeated by Ken Obura.

Nyagudi’s death comes less than a month after the passing of former Baringo North MP Willy Rotich Kamuren, marking a period of mourning for the political community in Kenya.
