President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Friday signed a historic agreement to formalize their political alliance at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.
The agreement, which brings together Kenya Kwanza and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), is aimed at addressing key issues facing the country and delivering on campaign promises.
The signing ceremony was attended by numerous political leaders, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and ODM officials such as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, ODM Chairperson Gladys Wanga, and Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati.
The event, which featured prayers for the nation’s unity and prosperity, was overseen by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina.
Key issues outlined in the agreement include the full implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, the fight against corruption, creating youth employment, auditing national debt, and compensating victims of past protests.
Both Ruto and Raila emphasized their shared commitment to addressing these challenges through cooperation.
President Ruto reiterated his commitment to a united government, stating, “We are here to build a Kenya that works for everyone.”
Raila Odinga, acknowledging the significance of the agreement, added, “The country is bigger than any individual, and we have come together for the sake of our people.”
The agreement marks a new phase in Kenya’s political landscape, with the two former rivals pledging to collaborate for the betterment of the nation.
