DPP Seeks Extradition of British Soldier Wanted for Murder in Kenya

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has written to the Attorney General (AG) requesting the commencement of extradition proceedings against a British soldier accused of murdering a Kenyan woman in 2012.

Appearing before Justice Alexander Muteti, a representative from the ODPP informed the court that a letter dated October 9, 2025, had been forwarded to the AG’s office through the Solicitor General to initiate the extradition process.

The fugitive is wanted in connection with the murder of Agnes Wanjiru, who disappeared on March 31, 2012.

Her body was discovered two months later in a septic tank in Nanyuki.

The victims’ lawyer, Mbiu Kamau, criticized the Kenyan government for the delay, stating that it had taken more than a decade to initiate the murder trial.

He told the court that the delay had denied justice to the family of the deceased.

Kamau further urged the court to compel the ODPP and AG to fast-track the extradition process.

He also requested that the ODPP provide the victims with all documentary evidence and exhibits intended to be used during the trial.

He reminded the court that a previous inquest held in a Nanyuki court found the fugitive culpable for the murder.

In his ruling, Justice Muteti directed all involved parties to expedite the extradition process and ordered the matter to be mentioned monthly for status updates.

The judge also directed the ODPP to provide the victims with the necessary documents but prohibited their publication before the trial begins.

The case will be mentioned again on November 24, 2025, for further updates on the progress of the extradition.
