Court Orders Police to Expedite Probe into Missing Wajir County Commissioner

The High Court has directed the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to hasten investigations into the mysterious disappearance of Wajir County Commissioner, Mr. Hussein Mohammed.

Justice Chacha Mwita issued the orders, compelling the DCI to move with urgency and produce Mr. Mohammed, either alive or dead.

The court further directed that once recovered, Mohammed should be presented before any court in the country.

These directives came in response to an application filed by Mohammed’s family through their lawyers, Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui.

“This is the first case where a senior government employee has disappeared without a trace,” the lawyers submitted.

The court was informed that Mohammed went missing on July 8, 2025, shortly after dropping his children at school.

“On the material day, Mohammed took his children to school, then drove to his workplace and has not returned home since,” Wambui told the court.

The petitioners accused the state of failing to act swiftly or seriously in the matter, despite Mohammed’s high-ranking position within government.

Omari urged the court to compel top security officials to account for Mohammed’s whereabouts.

“The Attorney General and Inspector General must restore public confidence by ensuring that Hussein is traced and brought before this court,” he argued.

Notably, the court heard that Hussein disappeared just a day after he received the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Geoffrey Ruku, in Wajir on July 7, 2025.

Justice Mwita’s orders now place pressure on the country’s top security organs to provide answers in a case that has drawn national concern.
