UDA Party Delegation Visits Uganda, Strengthens Ties with NRM and Calls for Pan-African Unity

In a remarkable move towards fostering closer political relations in East Africa, a high-profile delegation from Kenya’s ruling party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), visited Uganda, where they were hosted by President Yoweri Museveni at the State House in Kampala.

The visit, which marks a new chapter in political collaboration between the two East African nations, focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between UDA and Uganda’s National Resistance Movement (NRM).

President Museveni warmly welcomed the delegation, led by UDA National Chairperson Governor Cecily Mbarire, and highlighted the shared history between Kenya and Uganda, stressing the importance of preserving this bond for future generations.

“The ties between Kenya and Uganda run deep. Our history, our struggles, and our successes are intertwined. This is a partnership that we must protect and strengthen,” Museveni remarked.

The Ugandan president also made a powerful call for Pan-Africanism, urging greater political cooperation between East African nations.

“Our prosperity lies in the unity of our people. Only through collaboration can we overcome challenges and ensure that Africa stands as one in the global arena,” Museveni said.

He further emphasized the importance of the relationship between UDA and NRM, urging both parties to work together to champion the ideals of Pan-African unity and shared economic prosperity.

In an important gesture of support, President Museveni expressed his commitment to assisting UDA in the establishment of a leadership institute in Kenya.

“The NRM is ready to extend technical assistance through the NRM Leadership Institute, and we will send a team to Kenya to help you with the planning and setup of this important institution,” Museveni stated.

This collaboration signifies a shared vision for empowering future leaders and fostering political education in both countries.

Governor Cecily Mbarire, who led the UDA delegation, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and the opportunity to deepen the political cooperation between the two ruling parties.

“This visit has opened new doors for collaboration. We are excited about the prospects of the leadership institute and look forward to learning from NRM’s experiences,” Mbarire said.

The UDA delegation included key party figures such as Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, and Party National Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi.

The visit also provided an opportunity for further engagement between the leadership of the two parties, with discussions focusing on a wide range of topics from political strategy to economic cooperation.

Both parties agreed on the importance of continuous dialogue and the need for the East African Community to forge a path of mutual benefit.

As Kenya and Uganda continue to solidify their political and economic relations, the visit by the UDA delegation underscores the growing partnership between the two nations and their shared commitment to a prosperous and united Africa.
