Two Kiambu Politicians charged with burning Kikuyu CDF offices valued at Sh 20M during protests.

Two politicians who are alleged to have taken part in burning Kikuyu CDF offices valued at Sh 20 million during the anti-tax protests have been charged with the offense at Kiambu law courts.

Naftary David Njama Gatuota, and Joseph Kuru Waweru who unsuccessfully vied for elective posts during the 2022 elections appeared before Magistrate Peter Ooko denied the three charges of arson and malicious damage to property kikuyu leveled against them by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The court heard that the two suspects jointly with others not before took part in illegal activities of setting on fire the Kikuyu NG-CDF offices valued at Sh 20 million.

“The accused before you also engaged in
malicious damage to property where they set on fire an NG-CDF vehicle valued at Sh2.5 million and also damaged the office of the Kikuyu Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner valued at Sh 600,000,” the charges sheet states

The offenses were committed on June 25, 2024.

Njama and Kuru were released on a Sh 1 Million bond with a surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of Sh 200,000 each.
