A devastating plane crash in Naivasha’s remote Kedong Ranch on Thursday evening has left two people dead, authorities have confirmed.
Marcus Dunn and his wife Anne Dunn, both farmers from Loldia, Naivasha, were on a routine flight back to their farm when the light aircraft crashed under mysterious circumstances.
The crash site, deep within the rugged terrain of Kedong Ranch, proved difficult to access, with rescue teams and police officers working for over six hours before they could recover the bodies and other personal belongings, including a firearm.
The difficult location of the crash, compounded by poor visibility due to thick fog in the area, may have played a crucial role in the tragic incident.
Naivasha’s Deputy OCPD, Charles Mwai, stated that the foggy conditions in the area likely contributed to the crash, which saw the plane plummet into a valley.
The remote location hindered immediate rescue efforts, complicating the recovery operation.
“We are saddened by the loss of the couple, and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this difficult time.
The plane and its occupants were found trapped in a valley, which caused significant delays in our efforts,” Mwai said.
The bodies of Marcus and Anne Dunn were later transported to a private mortuary for further investigation.
Authorities are continuing to probe the cause of the crash, with weather conditions at the time being a key factor in the ongoing inquiry.
The couple, well-known in the local farming community, is mourned by friends, colleagues, and the wider Naivasha community.
