Police Detain Two Suspects in Death of British Businessman Campbell Scott

Police have detained two individuals, including a taxi driver and a club waiter, as their investigation intensifies into the tragic death of British businessman Campbell Scott, whose lifeless body was discovered in a remote Makueni forest.

The 58-year-old senior director at data analytics company FICO, who was in Nairobi for a critical business trip, went missing on February 17, sparking a desperate search that has now led to a chilling discovery.

Scott was last seen leaving the JW Marriott Hotel in Westlands, where he had been attending a three-day business workshop.

CCTV footage from the hotel shows Scott walking out with a man wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, and boarding a vehicle, vanishing from sight soon after.

For days, the search for Scott appeared to have hit a dead end.

However, on February 22, a local herder stumbled upon a grim sight in the dense Makongo Forest, located along the Wote-Machakos road.

Scott’s decomposing body, stuffed inside a sack, was found abandoned in the wilderness.

His hands and legs were bound with green nylon rope, which immediately raised suspicions that he had been killed elsewhere and dumped in the desolate location.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have now detained the taxi driver who was seen ferrying Scott from the hotel and a waiter who worked at the club where Scott had visited before his disappearance.

Preliminary investigations revealed Scott’s movements in Westlands had been far from typical.

He had visited several establishments, including a popular gay bar, before meeting the individual seen in the CCTV footage.

As police continue to piece together the events leading to his death, statements have been taken from at least six people, including hotel staff and security personnel, who may have witnessed Scott’s final hours.

His body has been transported to Makueni County Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting autopsy results in Nairobi to determine the cause of death.

Scott, a respected business figure who had traveled to Nairobi for a meeting with high-profile officials from the UK, US, and Africa, had plans to meet with global business leaders, but his life was tragically cut short.

FICO, his company, has expressed deep sorrow over his untimely death, sending condolences to his grieving family.

The UK High Commission in Nairobi has assured full support to the Kenyan authorities in their efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding Scott’s death.

The British Foreign Office in London has also expressed their commitment to providing assistance to the family during this heartbreaking time.
