Kilifi Pastor Arraigned Over Shocking ‘Faith Healing’ Cult Practices

A controversial pastor from Chakama, Kilifi County, has been dragged to court today following explosive revelations of radical indoctrination and cult-like practices under the guise of religion.

The preacher, affiliated with the New Foundation Church, was arraigned in a Kilifi court on a miscellaneous application, facing serious accusations under Section 12(d) of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2012.

The charges stem from claims of radicalizing followers through extreme teachings that dangerously stray from mainstream religious doctrine.

According to authorities, the suspect was nabbed by a multi-agency team after intelligence reports flagged bizarre and harmful rituals at his church compound.

Among the more disturbing practices uncovered was a strict ban on seeking medical attention.

Instead, congregants were instructed to climb a so called “sacred tree” situated within the church grounds to receive divine healing.

In another jaw-dropping twist, the pastor was found to be selling what he dubbed “maji ya uzima” water allegedly imbued with healing powersdrawn from a private well on the premises.

Devotees reportedly paid Sh200 per litre for the miracle water, a practice investigators believe exploited vulnerable believers.

Tragically, authorities suspect at least two deaths may be linked to the church’s radical practices, with fears that up to 200 other followers could be at similar risk if urgent intervention is not made.

While Kenya upholds the constitutional right to freedom of worship, law enforcement agencies are warning the public to stay vigilant against religious outfits promoting dangerous ideologies that put lives in jeopardy.

The court has granted investigators ten days to complete their probe.

The case is scheduled for mention on May 5, 2025.
