Court Rules Two Key Suspects in Dusit D2 Attack Have a Case to Answer

In a landmark victory for the war on terrorism, a Kenyan court has ruled that two key suspects in the 2019 Dusit D2 terror attack, Hussein Mohammed Abdile and Mohamed Abdi Ali, have a case to answer.

The ruling, delivered by Lady Justice Diana Kavedza, marks a significant step forward in the pursuit of justice for the victims of the heinous attack that claimed the lives of 21 people and left many others injured.

The court’s decision follows an exhaustive investigation by Kenyan security agencies, who presented compelling evidence during the trial.

In total, 55 witnesses, including expert testimonies and exhibits, were brought forward by the prosecution to support their case.

Their testimony was pivotal in establishing a strong link between Abdile, Ali, and the deadly attack on the Dusit D2 complex in Nairobi, which was orchestrated by the Al-Shabaab terror group.

Arrested alongside Mire Abdullahi, the suspects were detained after an extensive investigation that highlighted the effectiveness and perseverance of Kenya’s security forces in combating terrorism.

Abdile and Ali are now set to face a defense hearing scheduled for February 5 and 6, 2025, where they will have the opportunity to present their case.
