The family of Hussein Abdirahman Mohammed, a prominent Garissa government official, has moved to the High Court in Milimani, demanding the immediate production of their kin, dead or alive.
Through lawyers Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui, the family filed an urgent application compelling the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and the Director of Public Prosecutions to produce Mohammed in court by July 14, 2025.
Mohammed, who serves as both the Huduma Centre manager in Garissa and an Assistant County Commissioner, mysteriously disappeared on July 8, 2025. Since then, there has been no word on his whereabouts.
According to the application, Hussein was last seen during a public function attended by the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service in Garissa.
The lawyers claim he was seated at the high table with the CS before being “whisked away” under unclear circumstances.
“Hussein has not been heard from or reported anywhere in the Republic of Kenya since that day,” the application states.
The family is now demanding answers, and action, from the country’s top law enforcement officials.
The court is expected to issue directions on the matter once the application is placed before a judge
