Nairo Nairobi Governor H.E. Sakaja Johnson today marked a significant moment in the history of Lenana School by attending its 76th Founders Day Thanksgiving Prayer Service at St. Luke’s Chapel in Dagoretti South Sub-County.
The event held in January 26, 2025 brought together current students, alumni, and faculty to celebrate the institution’s enduring legacy of academic excellence and character-building.
Reflecting on his time at Lenana, Governor Sakaja shared heartfelt memories of his own school days, offering encouragement and inspiration to the current generation of pupils.
“This is a profound moment for me to celebrate this anniversary with you,” said Sakaja.
“Lenana School is not only a center of excellence in Kenya but across East Africa. It has produced leaders who have shaped sectors far and wide. What makes us great is our understanding of the rich heritage of this school.”
Sakaja went on to highlight how the values instilled at Lenana School laid the foundation for his own personal growth and success.
“You are all part of a great foundation. The upbringing here is what has made me stand before the world. You must believe in yourselves and go the extra mile—do more than expected,” he urged the pupils.
In a significant move to support the next generation of Lenana students, Governor Sakaja announced the creation of the Sakaja Endowment Fund, designed to assist needy students with their educational needs.
“We have formed the Sakaja Endowment Fund, which will facilitate the education of underprivileged pupils here at Lenana. Personally, I will contribute Kshs. 1 million annually starting this year,” Sakaja revealed.
“I also invite fellow alumni (Laibons) to join us in this cause to ensure that every student has a chance to excel and become great leaders of tomorrow.”
In addition to the endowment fund, Sakaja addressed the ongoing discussions regarding the Governor’s scholarships and bursaries, acknowledging the challenges and confirming that consultations with the Controller of Budget were underway to resolve the current impasse and ensure more students benefit from these initiatives.
Sakaja’s visit also included the presentation of a sound system to Lenana School’s chapel, a gesture aimed at enhancing the school’s worship and praise activities.
“This equipment will help elevate the spiritual life of this institution,” he said.
“Additionally, I will be delivering an entertainment sound system to support school events and activities as well.”
The Founders Day service was not just a moment of reflection, but a day of action, as Governor Sakaja’s announcements and contributions underscored his commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders and reinforcing the strength of the Lenana School community
As the day concluded, the school’s pupils, alumni, and staff left with renewed pride in their school’s legacy and an invigorated sense of purpose. With the establishment of the Sakaja Endowment Fund and ongoing support for the school, Lenana’s future looks even brighter, continuing to inspire excellence for years to come.
