Court Grants 21-Day Detention for Suspects in Briton Campbell Scott’s Murder Case

A Nairobi court has granted police an additional 21 days to continue holding two suspects linked to the murder of British national Campbell Scott.

The suspects, Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albunus Mutinda Nzioki, are alleged to have played a role in the death of Scott, whose lifeless body was discovered in Makongo Forest, Makueni County.

“The applicant is investigating a case of murder, whereby the deceased went missing and his body subsequently found murdered and dumped in Makongo forest along Machalos Wote road, the two suspects here in were involved in the heinous act,” reads the application by DCI

In affidavit filed before Milimani law court by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reveals that Scott, who arrived in Kenya on February 15, 2025, checked into the W Marriott Hotel in Nairobi before being lured to a house in Pipeline Estate.

Investigators led by Sergeant Philip kilonzo suspect he was murdered in the estate before his body was disposed of in Makueni.

Kilonzo told  the court that Scott on February 16,2025 left JW Marriott Hotel and was last see with unknown African male adult leaving H westlands in Nairobi.

” The deceased left Havanas club together with unknown persons and boarded a Uber to pipeline area within Nairobi to Mutua’s house,” the DCI detectives told the magistrate.

The body was found on February 25, 2025, by a local herder grazing goats near the Machakos-Wote Road.

Authorities described it as bound at the hands and legs, wrapped in a green nylon sack, and dumped in a ditch near Makongo Forest Viewpoint.

The herder immediately notified local authorities, and Mukuyuni Police Station was alerted.

DCI further revealed that Scott’s bank accounts showed several suspicious attempts at withdrawals in Nairobi, Voi, and Mombasa, suggesting a possible financial motive behind the crime.

Following intensified investigations, police arrested Mutua and Nzioki on March 1, 2025, along the Nairobi-Machakos Road.

A post-mortem conducted by government pathologists on February 27, 2025, has not yet determined the exact cause of death but continues to be part of the ongoing investigation.
