Charles Nyachae former Chairperson of the Constitution Implementation Commission and the elder son of the late Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae, has denied recognizing a third family that has laid claim to his father’s estate.
Testifying before Justice Eric Ogola of Milimani High Court Charles Nyachae stated that he had no knowledge of a woman named Margret Chweya, who alleges she was married to his late father.
He further told the court that he had never met Margret’s children prior to the court proceedings, asserting that he only saw them for the first time in court.
According to Nyachae, the first time he saw Margret Chweya was during his father’s funeral in 2020.
He recounted that she was seen consoling his mother, and he subsequently instructed the youth present to eject her from the funeral service.
Despite his denials, evidence presented in court indicated that a house located in Loresho, identified as Nairobi/90/90, was purchased by Simeon Nyachae for Margret.
Correspondence from Kangwana and Kangwana Advocates, the law firm that handled the conveyancing, supported this claim.
When presented with alleged Facebook conversations between himself and Margret predating his father’s death, Nyachae dismissed them, claiming his Facebook account was inactive during that period.
He also denied knowledge of an email sent to his law firm, Nyachae and Steve Advocates, regarding the matter.
Nyachae maintained that his father did not acknowledge or provide for any third family in his will.
The hearing continues.
